“They are more than just vets to treat sick animals. They provide a full support service to help our dairy farm be as healthy and productive as possible. Whilst treating sick animals is a part of their provision, and one they are extremely good at, there is far more that they offer. Their vets are second to none in their attention to detail and investigation into the causes and prevention of health problems. They work within the constraints of consumer demands and industry wide developments focussing on reduction in the use of antibiotics through promoting whole of life planning thus lowering incidence of disease. We work closely with our farm vet through regular routine visits. This gives us the opportunity to constantly monitor the health of our cows through both physical examination and interpretation of technological data ensuring we can plan for the future. Their proactive farmers initiative takes the interaction between farm and vet to the next level, focussing on monitoring the health of all animals on the farm with the aim to deliver realistic and achievable goals for improvement individualised to each farm.
